Junior League of the Emerald Coast

The Junior League of the Emerald Coast is actively seeking a diverse membership of women of all ages. Current membership includes a broad array of women who bring many different talents and perspectives to the the community. If you are interested in becoming a member of JLEC, please attend the recruitment social on August 3rd at 6pm at the Gulfview Hotel (behind Staff's restaurant) in Fort Walton Beach. To join the JLEC, you must be at least 21 years of age, live in Okaloosa, Walton or Santa Rosa County. Class size is limited and applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Children in Crisis Bass Tournament

The 1st Children in Crisis Bass Tournament will be held at Hammock Bay in Freeport on August 7th. There will be a $3000 first prize. All proceeds benefit Children in Crisis. Boats and two angler teams are needed right now!

Habitat Charity Golf Tournament

The Habitat Charity Golf Tournament to be held at Hidden Creek in Navarre on August 13th. Registration at 11:30 Shotgun start 1PM. This is a St. Sylvester Knights of Columbus project. Proceeds go towards the building a Habitat for Humanity house using Knights volunteers.

6th Annual Josh Sprinkle 5K Memorial Run/Walk

The 6th Annual Josh Sprinkle 5K Memorial Run/Walk will be held on  August 21st at the Ft Walton Beach Landing Downtown Ft Walton Beach at 7:30am. There will also be a 1/2 mile fun run and 1 mile run for youngsters. Proceeds will benefit local cross country programs.

Armed Forces Appreciation Day

August 28 is Armed Forces Appreciation Day in Fort Walton Beach. Celebrate and pay tribute to the Armed Forces and our diverse community. Entertainment, great food, craft vendors, military displays, and cultural displays reflecting the diversity that makes up our armed forces. The event will be held at the CH Bull Rigdon Fairgrounds on Lewis Turner Blvd. Ft. Walton Beach from 10am-10pm.

Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park and Cultural Center

The Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park and Cultural Center, along with the Friends of the Museums, presents an original exhibit titled "Pirates: The Last Scourge of the Gulf" thru September 4th, 10am - 4:30pm. The exhibit is scheduled to be on display all summer inside the Indian Temple Mound Museum Lazarus Education Center. The exhibit examines the real pirates who swept across the Gulf of Mexico in the early 19th Century and wreaked havoc on American shipping along the Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida. Coast is $5 plus tax for adults; $4.50 plus tax for seniors 55 and older and military personnel; and $3 plus tax for children 3 - 17.

Choctaw Hoagies

The Choctawhatchee Style Marchers will be making subs the first Saturday of every month (except November and December). Preorders only.
The "Choctaw-hoagie" is an 18 inch sub sandwich on a freshly-baked Italian sub roll with ½ lb of meat including chopped ham, honey ham and salami, white and yellow American cheese, tomato, lettuce, with onion on the side for only $6.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child Florida State Tour! Livia Satterfield received a shoebox from Operation Christmas Child as a 10 year old in a Romanian Orphanage. She was eventually adopted by an American family. Come hear Livia share her amazing story of God’s love through a shoebox, a campaign she conintues to this day, Oct. 3rd from 6-8 pm at First United Methodist Church on John Sims Pkwy. and Partin Drive.

 

R.U.F.F. Rescued Unwanted Furry Friends

R.U.F.F. Rescued Unwanted Furry Friends needs your help. R.U.F.F. needs at least $40,000 to last for 3 or 4 months until we can get some of the dogs adopted. Their Thrift Store called RuffHouse Thrift Store (in the PMI shopping center on Hwy 98 Ft Walton Beach) would appreciate donations of vehicles, farm equipment, yard equipment, furniture, boats, RV's anything of value that we can sell. A tax receipt will be given to anyone donating that they can claim on their taxes. All proceeds at the RUFF HOUSE Thrift Store goes to vet bills, food bills and cleaning supplies. Take donations to RUFF HOUSE Thrift Store at 127 Miracle Strip Parkway or RUFF Rescue at 91 Ready Avenue. R.U.F.F. is a no kill shelter.
