2002 – The number one album in America was the soundtrack for the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou? featuring bluegrass, country and gospel music.

2001 - Loretta Lynn was admitted to a hospital in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, complaining of pain in her lungs.  She was treated for pneumonia and released March 31st.
